Borrowed Coats

I saw a bandwagon pulled down the street

Filled with people of different faces

Drawn by their responses, binding races

The effect negative – a blinding sheet

Everyone clad in coats that did not fit

What hand had tailored these pieces?

Pray, tell, who sold it them? On what basis?

Surely, in a bid to dance to the crowd’s beat

“I’ll emulate the turkey”, said no swan

Neither sat a snowman by the fire

Such beauty observed in satisfaction

Put out the noise of the street, oh man

In your fitted worn coat – much to admire

See, contentment is a learned reaction
