Never Saw

I never saw a harder nut to crack
Than the one whose shell as soft as clouds
So lofty, impossible to grasp
His nature is comely to me
And his mind? Leaves me blown to the smithereens

I never saw a gifted scribe
As he who denies his abilities as deft as a chameleon
So swift, impossible to capture
His prowess I desire
And his mind? Spiral steps to an unending depth

I never saw a man, child
Than he who wears age as a mask
So secure, a near impossibility to peek within
His youth, so alluring
And his mind? _sigh_ Fireflies lighting a dark night

I never saw a garden, locked
Than he hid as within a high picket fence
So surreal, as yet touchable
His roots, thick with dark rich loam
And his mind? His mind, his mind…
